The Autoimmune's relationship with Fertility and looking for Balance

I was diagnosed with high thyroid antibodies and Hashimotos thyroiditis a few years ago. The levels go up and down, something I really need to get retested for... When I first asked my doctor for the test she refused, I had to beg, “it’s my money, my thyroid!” I’m so glad I put my foot down with this.
It’s very common for women with POF to have one or more auto-immune diseases. So maybe for those of us with POF, auto-immune diseases are another sign that things are off balance in our system? Is there are relationship between the illnesses? I ask doctors these questions and they often say they just don't know yet. Looking at the body as a whole, Hashimotos could be causing more problems then is currently known, and the thyroid is such a huge thing with fertility. Many people often have two or more autoimmune diseases concurrently.
There is a lot of info on the web about the close relationship between autoimmune diseases and POF. I definitely recommend getting your thyroid antibodies tested.
Do you know about anti-bodies that attack the ovaries? Many women with POF are found to have these anti-ovarian antibodies.
There's definitely a lot more to say on this subject so I'll be doing more posts on it.
I’ve just recently started taking colostrum. It is supposed to do wonders for restoring balance to the body, including healing autoimmune diseases. It contains: proline-rich pol-peptides which modulate the immune response; cytokines regulate intensity and duration of immune response and are antiviral and anti-tumorous; interlukin- 10 reduces inflammation; and lymphokines regulate the immune response. Enough scientific talk from here, here are some good articles:
I’ll let you know if I have any success with this colostrum, but many people have with all kinds of illnesses, so it’s worth a shot. Can only make me healthier!

Hi Mary - I look forward to hearing more info from you. I have been diagnosed with DOR and have been trying for 4 years. I also was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had my thyroid removed. I don't know if I had high thyroid antibodies.

Thanks Amber. I had a ultrasound done on my thyroid too, as the thyroid specialist said that high antibodies often precede cancer. So wouldn't be surprising if you did have high antibodies.
Thanks for reading. I've just started doing this, I think we all have to bond together.
Here is a petition you should sign if you haven't already, asking for more research to be done.

Hi Mary, I have type 1 diabetes and found out a year ago i have primary ovarian insuficiency. I have had the antibodies test and no longer get period. I never get a good answer from doctors they say probably the immune system has attacked your ovaries. I am now going through menopause symptoms and have given up any hope on having a baby.

Hi Bluedolphin
I too never get a good answer from doctors, either I haven't found the right doctor yet, or they just don't know enough yet.
Did you test positive to the anti-ovarian antibodies?
I really suggest you do some of your own research and get pro-active in your health. Think about your diet, food is medicine. Have you looked into gluten intolerance? This can trigger many auto-immune diseases. The only way to really know is remove it completely from your diet for several months. All this really takes a commitment and how much you want to give it. Read "Inconceivable" by Julia Indichova.
I know it's a new trial experiment on myself at the moment, but I recommend you read about colostrum and diabetes, google it and read the scientific articles. Here is a link to an easy read to get you started http://thecolostrumblog.com/colostrum-a-godsend-for-the-diabetic
I'm going to get my anti-bodies retested next month to see if it's had any effect for me.
My periods stopped 6 months ago but have just very recently started again, after being on colostrum for 6 weeks, I'm not getting my hopes up too much but fingers crossed!
